Spartan Steering box (no difference)

Entegra Spartan Chassis still bad

And so the saga continues, new steering box and the steering play is still as bad as ever, even with the safe-t-plus, so can imagine how bad it was before!

I think that the fundamental problem is that no one really know much about how things actually work at Spartan so they simply keep changing parts in the hope that they will one day get it right. Get someone who knows what they are doing and they could [probably diagnose the issue within 10 mins. Maybe they think that I’ll lose interest and go away…WRONG. This simply isn’t going to happen and IT WILL be fixed. They are wasting so much time and money on simply changing parts, you would think that if they haven’t got the experience in house that they could get an expert from outside, it would save them a fortune in the long run.

Glenn, if I had all the troubles you have had with your steering and handling I would head for Charlotte MI and not leave there until it was fixed to my satisfaction. They will be in a much better position to evaluate and correct your issues at the factory than at some dealer or repair shop. I know this is a pain and an expense for you, but if you want it resolved once and for all, this is the best approach. The people at Spartan need eyes on your coach to get this fixed right. Also, by being at their service center you will keep their focus on your coach for as long as you are there, whereas if you deal with them by phone or by email someone else has their ear as soon as you hang up.

      Hi Marc
It’s been at the Spartan facility before for over a month and came out worst then it went in. The problem is finding someone who doesn’t just change parts, someone who actually knows what they are doing. Here’s an example our friends from France were with us last week and he knows of our steering issues, so I let him drive on a perfectly straight piece of road, he was absolutely amazed how bad it was. So when we stopped he got underneath and ask me to move the steering from left to right a couple of times and diagnosed that the drivers side ball joint was bad (this has already been changed once). I reported this to Spartan. 4 days later there is a major recall on 1700 chassis’s with suspected ball joint issues ???? what does this tell you.

    Glen,
I have been watching your videos for a while and we just met this evening at Entegra.
I too have a wandering coach. I have had the ballpoints checked, two alignments and added a Safety Plus. I look forward to hearing how you resolve your wandering coach, so I have an idea how to proceed.

      Hi Bruce
Good to meet both you and your wife earlier, I’ll be posting an update on my steering later on this month when I can put all of pieces of this of this jigsaw together
