Now smoke detectors are extremely important, but incorrect fitting can make these safety items even more dangerous. The smoke detector in our Entegra 44B is fitted to the ceiling directly above the microwave oven, and goes off virtually EVERY TIME we cook.

So the natural this to do is to remove the battery. This is not something that is of course recommended but having a really loud smoke alarm sounding every time you use the oven or toaster is something that most people won’t tolerate.
