Steering Fixed (I think)

So now totally fed up with the crap service that Spartan provide we have decided to drive the Rv to an alignment specialist in Columbus in Missouri. We were sceptical to say the least as the RV has been at the manufacture for a month so what could this guy do that Spartan couldn’t?

When we arrived we were surprised to see that Spartan had actually sent the dealer a new steering box for us, just in case we needed one (they were supposed to fit this when they had the RV for a month!.

So the first thing we were told was “you will not need a new steering box” they then proceeded to carry out a 3-axel alignment. We were informed that the rear two axels were actually trying to steer the rear of the RV to the left making the front want to keep going to the right, so hence the constant correction required on the steering (see saw action

So after they carried out the CORRECT alignment the coach was road tested and it drove perfectly straight down the interstate without the need for constant corrections. So I think they have at last solved the steering problem. The reason I’m keeping this vague is because the day we left the alignment company we were driving in a very strong crosswind so it’s a little too early to say.

Really happy to hear that the coach issues seem to be resolved. Now you can continue making those great videos! Where are you headed to next?

      Hi Tom

Sorry for the delay in replying, not always easy with bad campsite wifi. Sadly we still have ongoing steering issues which are starting to piss me off now

Hopefully your beautiful coach is now ready for adventure! US and Canada are a paradise for RVers and I hope that you will now spend time on the road without being distracted by the little flaws…

Thanks again for your high quality videos, I look forward to seeing more!

    See you on the road,
    Alex

Well, I’m sorry to say this , but I would have expected Entegra to diagnose as a minimum the steering issues and resolve them without sending you all over the US.

That is a major problem with the RV industry, if your not handy, not capable of being totally self sufficent then you have a huge problem, since the initial quality of the suppliers equipment purchased by the manufactures is sub par.

Been there done that, replaced air conditioning units, furnaces, water pumps, not by my own skills, but by my skills just like you of finding my own people and when necessary sourcing my own parts…

What do you pay these huge prices for if it is not for these companies to review the quality of the equipment and maintain spares and contacts of highly qualified service people in the markets they sell their products in… a 2 or 3 warrenty is usless without this..and so is the motorhome, 5th wheel or RV.

At least a company like Tiffen has 20 plus service bays and parking facilities while your waiting for your appointment, not that product failure is acceptable, but making sure your service department is up to the task is a foundation of any successful business.

I will take a quality service advisor any day over a fancy feel good party… I hope Entegra has made you happy, did they fix your steps, did they fix your front shades… what is the procedure, who is responsible for your next service issue and how far and how long will it take to get that issue fixed…

Not everyone has the ability or time to put in as much effort as you have to make their product work, I hope they have compensated you well, personally, I would just like a product that works.

    Best of luck,

    Ted

      Hi Ted
Yes most small jobs like the steps and the front shades have been resolved. So now we just need a new steering box, and a complete respray plus a new outside TV and we’ll be good.

This is the steering box that Spartan was supposed to have installed and the alignment shop said you don’t need . The saga continues ! And it’s going to be completely repainted and a new TV. Entegra should have given you a new one .

Would you buy another entegra?????What did entegra say about replacing your unit. I was interested in a entegra until I saw how much trouble you were having so I bought a fleetwood American Revolution coach and have had no problems. Fleetwood has been outstanding. I know if I have a problem they will take care of it. We have enjoyed your videos.

      Hi Phil
Would I buy another Entegra. Well as much as I love the Entegra I don’t think anyone should have to go through what we have been through. We had a Fleetwood before and NEVER had an issue. I have asked Entegra for the past 2 years to change my coach to one that works and they just insist on constantly repairing it.

I don’t remember if you told me about the Safe T Plus but I did have one installed on by American Coach due to that I had a fear of a front tire blow out but wow it also steers even better. It steered ok when we got our coach but now I could even remove my hands off the wheel and it really heads straight down the road even though I always have my hands on the wheel. When are you all going to be back in US ?

The STP is a great product and we constantly recommend it. The problem that I have is that my steering is crap and even the STP can’t put that right, but it gives you such peace of mind when driving

Hi enjoy all off your videos. I was wondering if you can tell me where to purchase the Rv Transformer. You did a video on the install and it seems like a product I would like to follow up on. Availability location and most important cost. One question is the install fairly strait forward, I noticed you did not do it yourself. Gary

Just north of Toronto Ontario Canada.
